i see a lot of posts about how its ok to like bad guy characters bc real world morality doesnt define what makes an interesting character or whatever but i never see people saying that its ok to hate these characters too. its ok to despise a repulsive villainous character. just because they have ‘depth’ or ‘complexity’ doesn’t mean you have to find them interesting especially when those characters represent real world threats that may even endanger your very life (ie racist characters, misogynist characters, abusive characters, white boy faves who are constantly portrayed as heroes/anti heroes by canon and fandom despite being just objectively terrible ppl etc)
its ok to hate these characters. its ok to question why they are so universally loved by fandom. its ok to be uncomfortable with people stanning for a character that you actually reasonably know would be a danger to you were they a real person in your life. its ok to not be ok with it and anyone who tries to pull out some devils advocate faux philosophy nature of evil bs is a grade a asshole.
